# Delete Custom Extractor

> Delete a custom extractor and retire the findings it produced. The extractor stops running immediately, any pending, running or paused backfill is cancelled, and its findings leave every read surface. Insights that report on this extractor alone are deleted with it, with their past reports; their titles are returned in insightsDeleted. Archiving (update with status "ARCHIVED") stops an extractor without removing it or its findings. Octave-managed methodology collectors cannot be deleted. Requires the custom-extractors entitlement.
